Vivari
It is a small, picturesque traditional fishing village, the so called protected harbor of Argolis.
Vivari is an enchanting seaside village with a unique charm, that its crystal clear beach fascinates the visitors. Vivari Bay is a large natural harbor, sheltered from the winds and famous for overnight mooring by yachts or other vessels.
Between Drepano and Vivari stretches the famous Lagoon, where during the Venetian years it was the natural shipyard of the Venetians, who gave their name to the village (Vivari means fish farm), while today it has turned into a recognized ecosystem in which fish reproduce, and is also a resting station for migratory birds during their long journey. It is surrounded by a perimeter road that is ideal for walking or cycling.
The village is indeed very small: Its 86 permanent residents are engaged in tourism, fishing, agriculture and trade in citrus fruit and horticulture. Despite all this, tourist infrastructure of Vivari is quite organized with rental apartments, rooms, studios, traditional furnished houses, hotels, etc. satisfying the tastes of all visitors. Along with the accommodation in the traditional accommodations, there is the possibility to try and enjoy unforgettable flavors (mainly fish) in the traditional Taverns, all with a panoramic view of the quiet village creek.
In the center of the village is the Church of the Prophet Ilias (the only seaside church in Greece dedicated to the Prophet(!) – it was thus an indication of the inhabitants' devotion to his Name during their daily life which was and is inextricably linked to the sea) which celebrates on July 19-20 and the traditional festival is organized with local meats, drinks and dancing until the morning hours. Notable churches are also Panagia Lefka (the view from Panagia and towards the Lagoon and Agios Nikolaos is amazing - worth a visit), Zoodohos Pigi (Marathia), Agios Spyridonas (on the opposite side of the lagoon) and Agios Nikolaos (Kondyli Beach). Agios Nikolaos was even built later as a response from the locals
The nearby beaches of Vivari, Kondyli, Kantia and Plaka are a breath of fresh air during the summer months.
All our visitors admit that staying in Vivari is an ideal place for a relaxing and pleasant vacation with alternative routes that combine mountain and sea.
